AMHERST, Mass. –The University of Massachusetts Amherst Alumni Association has announced contributions of $1.1 million and the commitment of an additional of $1.4 million to UMass Rising – The Campaign for UMass Amherst.
Andrew MacDougall ’95, president of the UMass Amherst Alumni Association, will present details of the $2.5 million commitment at the association’s annual assembly on June 7 as part of Alumni Weekend events.
“The Alumni Association is proud to continue its support of the university and its growing influence and leadership, both in the Commonwealth and around the world, as the flagship public research institution of Massachusetts,” MacDougall said. The announcement was made at the Massachusetts State House during the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony.
With a goal of $300 million, the UMass Rising campaign will provide unprecedented resources to support students, faculty, research and programs, buildings and infrastructure.
The Alumni Association represents a diverse audience of more than 242,000 alumni worldwide and reflects an active and powerful community that generates positive outcomes for the university.
