Through Dec. 19, when you donate to any nonprofit organization through the annual UMass Amherst Community Campaign (UMACC) you will automatically be entered to win a $300 Amazon gift card, courtesy of Amazon@UMass, and other prizes.
UMACC is the workplace giving program that allows UMass Amherst faculty, staff and retirees to donate to any nonprofit organization. None of the donation stays with the university.
When you donate through UMACC, you decide where your donation goes. From local nonprofits like the United Way of Hampshire County and the Amherst Survival Center, to national groups like Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center, to global nonprofits like Doctors Without Borders, it’s easy to find an organization to support.
Last year, more than 640 employees and retirees pledged more than $430,000 to nonprofits, and more than 60 percent of that went to organizations in western Massachusetts.
This year, the campaign has received more than $270,000 in pledges so far, but we need your help to reach our goal of $435,000 and make an impact on the lives of those in need.
In addition to the Amazon gift card, you will automatically be entered to win other cool prizes, like:
- Airfare for two on JetBlue (donated by the Travel Collaborative and JetBlue)
- A Mintueman Hockey game with Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy
- Dinner with Ken Toong, executive director of Auxiliary Enterprises, at the University Club
- Dinner and a show at the Fine Arts Center with Willie Hill, UMACC campaign chair and FAC director
- Event tickets, gift cards, parking passes and more.
Be sure to sign up by Dec. 19 to be entered into the drawing.
Everyone who donates will receive tickets for you and your family to a performance from the department of music and dance in the spring 2018 semester.
This year’s campaign will close on Jan.15.
Also, don’t miss your last chance for the Holiday Raffle to benefit UMACC at 304 Physical Plant (near the old Textbook Annex). You can buy 20 raffle tickets for $5 and enter to win some cool stuff, including a Red Sox autographed photo, toys, home goods and more. Stop by before Dec. 13 to check it out.
Give now at umass.edu/umacc, or use the paper pledge form you received by campus mail.
If you give by check or credit card before the end of the year, you may be able to deduct your donation on your 2017 tax return. If you give by payroll deduction, your deductions will begin in January.
When you give through UMACC, you become part of a larger community effort that helps us show the world that UMass cares.
