Two Prominent UMass Amherst Professors to Appear on the Learning Channel Nov. 22

AMHERST, Mass. - Two prominent University of Massachusetts professors are scheduled to appear on "Understanding," a program on The Learning Channel on Sun., Nov. 22, at 10 p.m. James Robl of veterinary and animal sciences, and Anne Simon, of biochemistry and molecular biology, are interviewed in a segment titled "The Power of Genes." The program focuses on genetic engineering and biotechnology, and addresses the prospects for gene-based therapies.

Both professors have been in the news in the past year: Robl, for his research in cloning and stem cells; and Simon, a respected virologist, for her role as an unofficial science advisor to the popular television series, "The X-Files."
