Emergency Manager O’Regan Heading to Georgetown University

Thomas O’Regan, director of emergency management and business continuity, is leaving the university to take a new job at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. His last day will be Aug. 30.

Donald Robinson, head of Environmental Health & Safety, will be directing the campus emergency management system until a new director is in place. 

O’Regan has overseen the campus office that develops business continuity plans for all departments, emergency preparedness planning and the UMass Amherst Alerts program that includes the outdoor warning system and the emergency text alert system. He also serves at the lead liaison to local communities, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

O’Regan, who has been at UMass Amherst since November 2010, will be the director of emergency management and operational continuity at Georgetown beginning in September.
