TechTalks Session Explores Accessibility of Macintosh Devices

UMass Amherst TechTalks presents “UMass Amherst & Accessibility of Macintosh Devices: What You Should Know Before Spending Another Dollar” on Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in 163 Campus Center.

As the campus explores ways to improve access to technology for people with disabilities, it is clear that some vendors have high-quality offerings that meet the needs of the campus community at minimal cost.

In this session, UMass Amherst IT and Apple representatives will highlight Apple’s accessibility offerings (e.g., VoiceOver screen reader, Dictation feature), which are built into their products, including iPhones, iPads and Macs, at no additional fee. These accessibility offerings make it easier for students, faculty, and staff with or without disabilities to perform their daily tasks.

Attendees will also learn about accessibility services already in place on campus and ways they can use Apple’s built-in accessibility features in their own work. You are welcome to bring your Apple devices to the event, but device ownership is not required.

The morning presentation will be followed by hands-on workshops in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided. Seats are limited. Please register at: www.oit.umass.edu/assistive/umass-amherst-techtalks-registration-form
