The Symphony Band will perform a concert on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. The concert will incorporate a broad selection of styles based on European and African themes.
Under the direction of Laura Rexroth, the Symphony Band will play Alfred Reed’s “My Jesus! Oh, What Anguish,” a composition of 69 pieces attributed to Bach set for wind instruments, along with Adam Gorb’s “Eine Kleine Yiddishe Ragmusik,” a combination of ragtime and Jewish folk music. John Zdechlik’s “Chorale and Shaker Dance,” Robert Russell “Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances,” and Percy Grainger’s “Handel in the Strand” will also be played.
Admission is $10 general public, $5 for students, elders and children under 18. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Box Office (545-2511).
