Nominations are now open for 2013 UMass Amherst Spotlight Scholar and Rising Researcher award programs. Co-sponsored by Research and Engagement and University Relations, these programs publicly acknowledge the quality, dedication and achievements of faculty and students. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Nominations and Eligibility
Spotlight Scholars are faculty members who have demonstrated academic quality and leadership. Anyone from the campus community may nominate a Scholar. Nominations can be submitted online at www.umass.edu/researchnext/spotlight-scholars. Up to three awards will be made throughout the fall semester.
All full-time tenure- and non-tenure system UMass Amherst faculty members are eligible to be nominated. Self-nominations are accepted.
Rising Researcher honors our most promising undergraduate students and publicly acknowledges their excellent work. Faculty members are encouraged to nominate eligible students who are under their supervision.Submit nominations on line using this form. Up to three awards will be made throughout the fall semester.
Eligible students will be exceptional undergraduates identified by their faculty mentor/advisor who have demonstrated leadership and impact in their chosen area of study. Impact can take the form of research results/scholarly publication; innovation/entrepreneurial activities that may lead to the development of technology or formation of a business; significant contribution to a creative work such as a book, collection of poetry, musical composition or theater/dance production.
