Robert Schrader has been appointed interim director of UMass Extension, effective Aug. 10, according to John Mullin, vice provost for University Outreach.
Schrader replaces Stephen Demski, who has been appointed vice chancellor for public service and continuing studies at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
“As assistant director of UMass Extension since 1996, Bob Schrader has helped guide Extension through one of the most fiscally challenging periods in its history,” said Mullin. “He brings a thoughtful and collaborative style of leadership, as well as a wealth of experience, to the director’s office. Bob joined Extension in 1978 as a community development specialist with a focus on energy conservation and local economic development. He later managed Extension’s water quality program, and has had primary responsibility for fiscal planning and reporting. His skill and insight have been critical in advancing and documenting the ways in which Extension fulfills the land-grant mission of the university and in strengthening its ties to federal, state and local partner agencies.”
Schrader is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management.
