Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) has named Sarah Craig director of summer programs.
Craig comes to the university with more than 10 years of higher education experience. She was the founding director of non-degree programs at Smith College, where she built and expanded academically rigorous and accessible pre-college offerings for high school girls. Craig also led summer conference services at Smith.
As director of summer programs for CPE, Craig will oversee the growth and expansion of summer pre-college programs for incoming UMass Amherst students as well as domestic and international high school students.
“I’m very excited to join UMass Amherst and work with a talented team to develop and deliver top-notch programs for summer learners. As a former Five College student, I have always loved the UMass campus and all that it has to offer, and I am thrilled to bring precollege students to campus to work with outstanding faculty and to enjoy everything UMass Amherst has to offer.”
Geraldine de Berly, vice provost for CPE, says, “We are delighted that Sarah Craig has joined the summer programs team as its director. She brings experience, creativity and energy, having managed and developed the nascent summer offerings at Smith College into a successful program. Sarah is sure to ‘hit the ground running’ and will build upon the impressive work done by the CPE summer programs staff.”
Craig holds a B.A. in religion from Mount Holyoke College and an M.Ed. in integrative learning from Endicott College, where she researched why some students with executive function disorders fail to successfully transition to college and how to create programming to ensure success.
