Ricciardi to Examine Work of Composer Carlo Gesualdo
A music history talk, “Gesualdo’s Settings of Torquato Tasso’s Lyric Poems: A Comparative Study,” by Emiliano Ricciardi, will be presented Monday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall.
The lecture will be a discussion of the first two books of madrigals by Carlo Gesualdo and tracing its possible influences and lineages as an early madrigal style.
Ricciardi, a lecturer in music history in the department of music and dance, holds an M.Phil in historical musicology from the University of Cambridge, and has published articles and reviews in journals such as Renaissance Quarterly and Notes.
