Renaissance Center Hosts Machiavelli Conference

A conference on Niccolò Machiavelli is being held Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Reading Room at the Renaissance Center.

Speakers and their presentations are:

  • Yves Winter, McGill University, “Violence, Cruelty and Force”
  • Andrew Poe, Amherst College, “Landscapes of Rupture”
  • Nicholas Xenos, professor of political science, “Political Transparency: Machiavelli's Advice to the Prince”
  • Giuseppe Mazzotta, Yale University, “The Mandragola”
  • Antonio Vazquez-Arroyo, Rutgers-Newark, “Machiavelli's Political Ethic Today: Casuistry and the Primacy of the Situation”
