AMHERST, Mass. - The campus community is invited to the second public forum to discuss the re-use of Old Chapel, the icon of the campus. The forum, organized by the Facilities Planning Division, will be held on Thursday, April 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Campus Center, Room 165-69. The intent of the meeting is to review initial design studies developed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the project''s architect. Their presentation will outline the physical repairs and code-mandated alterations that are required to make the building suitable for occupancy, regardless of use. In addition they will examine the physical and code implications involved in renovating the building to accommodate the various types of uses suggested at the previous forum.
This forum is the second in a series of three being held this spring to provide information about the progress of the building re-use study and to seek input from the campus community. The first forum, held on February 28, drew more than 60 people, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
