“Project 2050,” New WORLD Theater’s youth program, will present a showcase of its performances on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Bowker Auditorium as part of a fund-raiser for the program.
The show will feature excerpts from last year’s production, “Environ-mentality,” along with two solo pieces in the “Original Works” series by Kamo Asatryan and Amira Schroeder.
A reception following the performance will be in the Cape Cod Lounge in the Student Union, where the audience can meet performers and learn about the program. A poetry slam competition will begin at 9:30, featuring “Project 2050” poets. The slam is part of the preparations for the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam in San Francisco in April, where the program has been invited to compete. An open mic, open to community participation, will follow the slam.
Admission is $15 general public, $8 for low income and senior citizens and $5 for students. Admission to the slam only is $3 at the door. Additional donations from attendees will benefit the Lee Hammonds Memorial Fund, which supports the program. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office (545-2511).
