Adapted from letters and medical records, the 2013 film was written and directed by Bruno Dumont. It stars Juliette Binoche, an Oscar nominee for her performance as Camille Claudel, the brilliant sculptor and former protégée/mistress of Auguste Rodin, who was committed by her family to lifelong confinement in an asylum in the South of France. The film chronicles her life over three days in winter as she awaits a visit from her brother, the poet-playwright-diplomat-Christian mystic Paul Claudel.
