Ten student employees, 10 staff members and two teams of employees were recognized for outstanding contributions to the university at an April 28 reception hosted by Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy at the Marriott Center.
Subbaswamy presented the Chancellor’s Citation Awards to Hollis Henderson, Physical Plant/Moving Services; Robert Eveleigh, Academic Computing; Michael Harvey, Student Affairs Technology Services; Owen Graves, Facilities Services/Campus Center; Pamela Dutta, Student Legal Services Office; Lydia Washington, Student Activities and Involvement; Linda Hillenbrand, Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies; Shawn McIntire, Center for Agriculture; Walter Sadlowski, Building Maintenance, and Karen Schoenberger, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
For the first time, two teams of employees were recognized for their performance. The honorees were the 150th Sesquicentennial Celebration Events Team and the Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community Construction Management and Building Preparation Team.
The sesquicentennial team members are Nancy Buffone, executive director of External Relations and University Events, and her staff members, Kate DiSanto, Rebecca Dufault, Kathleen Smiarowski and Stephanie Subocz.
The CHC construction management and building preparation group included Andrew Soles Campus Planning, William O’Neil, Central Facilities Operations, Gaye Reinhold, Southwest/North Facilities Operations, Ted Mone, Residential Life Facilities Operations, and Jenna Rostek of Central Facilities Operations.
The Gerald F. Scanlon Student Employee of the Year Award was given to Muhammad Choudhry, Center for Student Businesses and Student Bridges; Christopher Copeland, Residential Life/Special Projects; Shaina Mishkin, University Relations; Timothy Paradis, UMass Extension Nutrition Education; Naomi Keezing, Equal Opportunity and Diversity; Ashlee Sparvfen, Office of Information Technologies; Melody Lam, Residential Life Student Services; Hannah French, Student Union Craft Center; Marianna Lafferty, Labor/Management Workplace Education, and Kelsey Henshaw, Auxiliary Enterprises/Dining Services.
