S. Philip Eddy, 74, professor emeritus of Education, died Aug. 31 at home of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Born in Stanton, Neb., he received a bachelor''s degree from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., and a master''s degree in 1953 from Teachers'' College at Columbia University in New York City. He also received a doctorate in education from Columbia University.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1953-55 as a corporal in the Quartermaster Corps.
He was member of the faculty for 33 years before retiring in 1991.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Burns) Eddy; a son, John of West Hartford, Conn.; a daughter, Sara of Arlington; and two grandchildren.
