Michael R. Cook, 53, of Pelham, a former associate professor of Chemical Engineering, died Sept. 13 at home.
Born in Norwalk, Conn., he graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles before obtaining his master’s degree from the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London. He earned his doctorate in chemical physics at Harvard University.
After a postdoctoral fellowship and two years as a lecturer in chemistry at Harvard, he served six years as a chemical engineer at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.
He joined the College of Engineering faculty in 1990, where he was an associate professor for seven years and then served as a lecturer from 1997 to 2000.
He leaves his wife, Marianna Marguglio, and a sister, Karen Sacra, of Phoenix.
