Jonathan Richard Quick, 72, professor emeritus of English, died May 13 in Charlottesville, Va.
He earned his B.A. at Rutgers University in 1963 and his M.A. and Ph.D. at Yale University in 1966 and 1968, respectively.
He was a member of the faculty from 1968 until his retirement in 2002. He taught during the spring 2003 semester on a post-retirement appointment.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Elaine Marie Quick of Charlottesville; his son Benjamin Joseph Quick and wife Julie Lefer Quick of Springfield, two grandsons and a niece and her sons.
A memorial service and burial arranged by Douglass Funeral Home will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Amherst at the convenience of the family.
