Obituary: Donald K. Emerson, Retired Maintainer

Donald K. Emerson of West Hatfield, a retired maintainer I with Housing Services, died Jan. 23 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

He was born in Greenfield and attended the public schools.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea and in Vietnam. He worked for Conrail for several years and joined the campus staff in 1989. He retired in 2000.

He leaves his brother Gerald Emerson, half-brother Gordon (John) Emerson, half-sister Bea Emerson Wright, his caregiver and longtime friend Shirley H. Smith, and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Village Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg.
