Obituary: Donald F. Samms, Retired Duplicating Machine Operator

Donald F. Samms, 85, of West Hatfield, a retired offset duplicating machine operator in the print shop at the former Research Computing Center, died May 8.

Born in Northampton, he was a graduate of both the Northampton High School and Northampton Commercial College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He joined the campus staff in 1970 and retired in 1990.

He leaves his children Linda Reed and her husband Mark of Southampton, Donna Kushi and her husband David of Hadley, and David Samms of Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren, two sisters and a niece and nephew.

Calling hours are Sunday, May 11 from 2-4 p.m. at the Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton.

Funeral services for Donald will be held Monday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Northampton, immediately followed by a military burial service in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Florence.
