Nominations Sought for Scanlon Student Employee of the Year Awards

The 2013-14 Gerald F. Scanlon Student Employee of the Year committee is seeking nominations of outstanding student employees.

The intent of the award is to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated exceptional performance by contributing their time and/or skills to help the university achieve its goals and objectives. Up to 10 awards will be presented at a celebration to be held on April 28.

Departmental supervisors may nominate any matriculated junior or senior who has been employed by the university for six months or more. The selection committee, composed of supervisors representing each vice chancellor’s division, will review the nominations and select award recipients. Selection criteria include dependability, demonstrated initiative and original contributions to the workplace.

This award is named in the memory of a man who was a staunch supporter of students throughout his 20-plus year tenure with the university. Without student workers, much of the work done by university staff would be very difficult to achieve. This award program is a small way for the university to say thank you to its valuable student employees.

Nominations are due by Wednesday, Feb. 26. Nomination forms are available online at or by contacting Christina Williams in the Student Employment Office at or 545-3399.
