Professor Sonia Nieto of the Department of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, last month was a featured speaker at events last month in Vermont, Rhode Island and Boston.
On Nov. 18, Nieto explored her research on the factors that motivate teachers when she presented the 29th Annual Robert and Augusta Finkelstein Memorial Lecture at the University of Rhode Island.
Nieto and four teachers from the Boston public schools gave a presentation entitled "Teacher Leadership through inquiry groups" at the International Summit for Leadership in Education: Integrity and Interdependence, held in Nov. 4-6 in Boston. The summit was co-sponsored by Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and the National
College for School Leadership in Nottingham, England.
Nieto was also spoke “Solidarity, Courage and Heart: Lessons from a New Generation of Teachers” on Nov. 3 as part of the President’s Distinguished Lecture Series at the University of Vermont.
