New England Jazz Ensemble Plays Jan. 30 at Bezanson
The Connecticut-based New England Jazz Ensemble will perform Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall.
The ensemble, which has released five critically acclaimed CDs, is led by pianist Walt Gwardyak and counts several music and dance department faculty and alumni among its members, including professor Jeffrey W. Holmes, lead trumpet and composer; professor emeritus David Sporny on trombone; alumni Jonathan Mele, drums; Timothy Atherton, trombone, and Peter McEachern, also on trombone. Other members are John Mastroianni on alto sax and Phil Pearson on trumpet.
Tickets are $10 general public, $3 UMass students and $5 for other students, children and seniors and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office, 545-2511, or at fac.umass.edu/musicanddance.
