With winter weather lurking, My UMass app, a free download for iPhone and Android, offers a handy and fast tool for the campus community to report problems like icy sidewalks or fallen branches to Facilities and Campus Services.
Originally developed by Residential Life to provide students access to a wide range of information and services, My UMass continues to provide fast, mobile access to campus events, calendars and notifications, as well as tools supporting health and well-being.
But now it also provides a service request form that lets anyone quickly report problems with facilities or grounds and attach a photo if they wish.
From the main My UMass screen, tap “Current” then “Facilities Services.” Enter your email address, name and a description of the problem. As an option, include a photo to make the situation clearer.
Shane Conklin, associate vice chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services, said, “The My UMass app is a convenient tool for real-time reporting of problems and helps us keep the campus safe and well maintained. The photo option along with a clear description of the issue, helps us dispatch the right equipment and materials as soon as possible.”
The Facilities Services link, with its wrench icon, is for reporting nonresidential area problems only. For residence hall service, tap the iServices icon on the same screen.
The My UMass app has been downloaded more than 19,000 times.
