The movie “Skin” will be screened Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Shirley Dubois Reading Room, 203 New Africa House. A discussion follows the film.
Based on a true story, “Skin” narrates Sandra Laing’s 30-year journey to define her place in the changing world of apartheid South Africa. Born a black child to Afrikaner parents in the 1950s, and brought up as a white little girl, Sandra realizes she would never be accepted in the white community and as an adult, experiences what it means to live as a black woman in South Africa.
The event is presented by the Women of Color Leadership Network at the Center for Women and Community and the Black Student.
This event is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible.
