Meredith W. Michaels, co-author of "The Mommy Myth," will speak on "Women, Work and Motherhood: Discussing the ''Mommy Myth''" on Wednesday, Nov. 2, noon to 1:30 p.m. in 601 Herter Hall.
Michaels, who is on the faculty of the philosophy department at Smith College, co-wrote "The Mommy Myth: The Idealization of Motherhood and How It Has Undermined Women" with Susan Douglas. The book was published last year.
Michaels will be joined by Bernie Jones, assistant professor of Legal Studies and adjunct professor of History. Laura Lovett, assistant professor of History, will moderate the discussion.
The event is sponsored by the History Department and the Women''s Studies Program.
