Medical Examiner Issues Cause of Death Ruling for UMass Amherst Student

AMHERST, Mass. - According to Barbara O''Connor, deputy police chief at the University of Massachusetts, the medical examiner has ruled the cause of death for UMass sophomore Andrew J. Brown to be asphyxiation.

Brown, 19, of Jefferson, Mass., was pronounced dead early today, Wed. Dec. 1, after he was found unconscious in his room in Cashin residence hall.

There were no signs of foul play. Funeral and memorial services will be announced when they become available.
