WHAT: Pep Rally for UMass Amherst Football (Season Opens against BC Aug. 30)
WHERE: Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, Rose Kennedy Greenway and Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston
UMass Amherst alumnus and Boston sports media personality Marc Bertrand (98.5 The Sports Hub, Comcast SportsNet New England) will emcee a pep rally in downtown Boston on Aug. 27 in support of the UMass Minuteman football team, which opens the 2014 season Aug. 30 at Gillette Stadium against Boston College in the “Battle for the Bay State.”
All alumni, students, fans and friends of UMass football are invited.
UMass head football coach Mark Whipple, UMass Amherst Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy and UMass Amherst Foundation Board President Richard Kelleher will address fans in attendance at the Boston Harbor Hotel.
The UMass Amherst Minuteman Marching Band will perform at the rally, following their march from Columbus Park via the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Other rally participants will include Sam the Minuteman and the UMass Amherst Dance Team.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Noon:UMass Minuteman Marching Band performs at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, Atlantic Avenue.
12:15 p.m.: Band marches south on the Rose Kennedy Greenway along Atlantic Avenue to the Boston Harbor Hotel, 70 Rowes Wharf.
12:25 p.m.: Band performs at Boston Harbor Hotel rotunda.
12:35 p.m.: Pep rally speeches by Subbaswamy, Whipple and Kelleher at Boston Harbor Hotel rotunda.
