At the invitation of state Attorney General Maura Healey, a 17-photograph exhibit by Brittany Hathaway, digital asset manager for University Relations, will be on display through Aug. 10 in the employee lobby of the John W. McCormack state office building, One Ashburton Place, Boston.

Hathaway created “Reframing Islam: A Photographic Resolution” in early 2017 in response to political unrest regarding fear and acceptance of Muslim Americans. Since then, the photos have been exhibited in several places across the state, including Grove Hall Boston Public Library in Dorchester in November.

“My greatest hope for ‘Reframing Islam’ is that audience members across all media platforms challenge their current understanding of the words ‘Muslim’ and ‘Islam’—to ask questions, to relinquish fear of the unknown and to develop acceptance,” says Hathaway.

Hathaway has been a professional photographer for more than a decade. She gives presentations and lectures and volunteers her photography services to academic and non-profit organizations across the state.

Each day, more than 5,000 people pass through the lobby of the McCormack building, whose tenants include the Civil Service Commission, Executive Office of Education, Department of Higher Education and the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security. The exhibit opened July 9
