Several local experts will participate in “Hate Crimes and Hate Incidents: An Educational Forum” on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7-9 p.m. in 163C Lincoln Campus Center.
The program was organized following several incidents on campus to inform students, faculty and staff about the legal differentiations regarding hate crimes and other hate-related occurrences.
Panelists will include Janice Healy of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Frank Flannery of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Lt. Chip Thrasher of the UMass Amherst Police Department, and Bill Newman of the American Civil Liberties Union. Debora Ferreira of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity will moderate the discussion.
The forum is co-sponsored by Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Life, Office of Human Relations, Office of Jewish Affairs, Stonewall Center, University Health Services, Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Support Programs and Everywoman’s Center.
