Jarice Hanson, professor of Communication, has been appointed to the Verizon Chair in Telecommunications at the School of Communications and Theater at Temple University.
While in Philadelphia, Hanson will conduct research on how cell phones change social practices in a comparative international setting. She also plans to examine the relationship between national telecommunications policies and social practices.
The appointment to the endowed position is for two years. Hanson will remain in the Communication Department, but serve half-time at Temple during the spring and fall 2005 semesters.
