Gubitosi Delivers Linguistic Association Presidential Address

Patricia Gubitosi, associate professor in the department of languages, literatures and cultures, gave the presidential address at the 47th meeting of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest (LASSO), held in Provo, Utah, Oct. 11-13.

In her presentation, Gubitosi analyzed the linguistic landscape of Portuguese and Spanish-speaking communities of Massachusetts. She was elected president of LASSO in 2017.

Gubitosi’s primary research interests are bilingualism and language contact, Hispanic dialectology and language identity. Her recent work focuses on Spanish and Portuguese minority groups living in Massachusetts and their linguistic diaspora.
