The Equal Opportunity and Diversity (EO&D) office has hired two new grievance officers, Kelly Burgess and Ryan Morse.
Burgess, who holds a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, has experience as an independent investigator and has been working in the EO&D office on a temporary basis as a civil rights investigator. She has a background in housing and discrimination law.
Morse, who also holds a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, has experience in employment law, and was recently a Title IX investigator at the University of Connecticut.
In their roles as assistant directors of EO&D, Burgess and Morse will investigate and propose resolutions for complaints related to civil rights violations, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, as well as provide training to the campus on civil rights issues.
The EO&D office administers the campus’ internal grievance procedures per the federal and state civil rights laws for complaints alleging discrimination, including the Sexual Harassment Policy, and provides advice and counsel to the campus community in regards to diversity, equity, inclusion and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
