Following a public bidding process, Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum has been awarded a five-year contract to manage the Mullins Center. The contract, which includes two two-year options, took effect July 1.
Global Spectrum succeeds SMG as manager of the multi-purpose arena.
Robert LeBarron, a nine-year employee of Global Spectrum, is the facility’s new general manager. He formerly served as GM of the Whittemore Center Arena at the University of New Hampshire.
The Mullins Center is a 10,500-seat arena that houses a basketball court over an Olympic-size hockey rink. The facility, which opened in 1993, also hosts convocations, commencements, cultural events, conferences, concerts and fine arts productions. It is named for the late state Rep. William D. Mullins of Ludlow, a major advocate for erecting a modern indoor arena on campus.
