Expert to Speak on ‘Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Through Nutrition and Physical Activity’

Stella Volpe, professor and chair of the department of nutrition sciences at Drexel University, will speak on “Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Through Nutrition and Physical Activity” on Thursday, March 13 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the Mullins Center, Massachusetts Room. There will be an informal reception before the talk at 2 p.m.

A former faculty member in the nutrition department, Volpe is a nutritionist and exercise physiologist whose research focuses on the prevention of obesity and diabetes across the lifespan.

Her three distinct areas of approaching the obesity and diabetes epidemics are: mineral metabolism; exercise and diet trials, and changing the environment to encourage healthier eating and increased physical activity.

The talk is sponsored by the departments of nutrition and kinesiology.
