President Marty Meehan and Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy invite the university community to join them to honor alumnus David A. Lowy on his recent appointment to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
The celebration will take place at the University of Massachusetts Club, One Beacon Street, 32nd Floor, Boston, on Wednesday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Lowy is the first UMass Amherst graduate to serve on the state’s highest court. He was one of three judges nominated by Gov. Charlie Baker in 2016.
Lowy earned his bachelor’s degree in history from UMass Amherst in 1983, graduating as part of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He went on to earn his law degree from Boston University in 1987.
There is no cost to attend. The event includes light appetizers. A cash bar will be available.
