The campus will conduct a test of the UMass Amherst Alerts Emergency Notification System (ENS) on Tuesday, April 4 after 2:15 p.m., according to Jeff Hescock, director of university emergency management and business continuity.
The test is part of the university's continuing effort to test, evaluate and improve its ability to provide timely and effective emergency notification and warnings during a campus emergency. The ENS test will include the UMass Amherst Alerts emergency text messaging, broadcast email and outdoor warning sirens.
Community members are reminded that UMass Emergency alerts (text messages and emails) are designed to work in tandem with the outdoor warning sirens. When a siren sounds, check your phone for a text message update on the emergency.
