William Elum, a residence director on campus since 2011, has been named to the new post of assistant director of Residence Education for Community Standards.
Currently a residence director in the new Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community, Elum will begin his new duties later this month, according to Jean Ahlstrand MacKimmie, director of Residence Education.
As assistant director, Elum will provide overall direction for the development and implementation of community standards and related processes in the residence halls, supervise five community standards graduate assistants, collaborate with the Dean of Students Office and other campus units, coordinate the adjudication of all residence hall conduct incidents, and provide training for staff.
“This position will be critical to our success in collaborating with campus and community partners to establish and reinforce positive community standards in our community,” said MacKimmie.
Elum received his master’s degree in higher education administration at Southeast Missouri State University, where he also served as a hall director.
