Lacrosse All-American Tracey Drown may have graduated in May, but she’s sticking with the team as assistant coach.
Head coach Carrie Bolduc announced the hiring on Aug. 19. “I am so excited that Tracey will be joining the staff,” said Bolduc. “She really understands the program and will bring a wealth of experience. She has a high energy and passion for the game that will carry over to the players and make us that much better.”
A third-team All-American last spring, Drown led the Minutewomen with 47 goals and 17 assists. The Nashua, N.H., native was also a first-team all-conference and all-region selection last year.
Drown tallied 81 points in her career, recording 61 goals and 20 assists in three seasons with the Minutewomen. Her 47 goals last year were the second-most in a UMass single-season. In 2004, Drown scored at least one goal in every game except the season-opener. She tallied multiple goals 13 times, including nine games of three-plus scores.
Drown played her freshman year at Towson (Md.) and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team.
She excelled in the classroom as well being named to the UMass Athletic Director''s and Atlantic 10 Commissioner''s Honor Rolls every semester.
The Minutewomen were 6-10 last year and advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament. Drown led the team with a hat trick in her final game, a 13-9 loss to Temple in the tournament.
