Diversity commission chair invites participation in public forum

To Members of the UMass Amherst Campus Community:

On behalf of the Commission on Campus Diversity, I would like to invite members of the university community to attend a Public Forum on Campus Diversity and to hear
presentations on this subject from individuals and organizations from the UMass Amherst campus. The forum is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 9, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Curry Hicks Gymnasium.

This forum is vitally important to the work of the Commission on Campus Diversity. As chair of the commission, I want to emphasize that its members want to hear from as many groups and individuals as possible. To organize a productive forum, we request
that individuals who wish to speak at the forum sign up in advance by Friday, Dec. 3., in order for the commission to maximize its efficiency in scheduling sufficient time for all interested parties to speak.

To register, please send an e-mail directly to me at orlandotaylor@hotmail.com and provide the following information:

Your name
Affiliation (group, campus department, or other identifier)
E-mail address

You will receive a confirmation e-mail with further information, including the approximate time you have been scheduled to speak.

Each person should prepare to speak for a limited time. Presenters are encouraged to submit additional written material following their presentations if they believe it will be helpful to the commission. The material should be presented to the commission in hard copy either at the public forum or shortly thereafter.

The commission members look forward to meeting with you on Dec. 9. In the meantime, I also encourage you to visit a special Web site created to communicate our ongoing work at www.umass.edu/campusdiversity.
