AMHERST, Mass. - You probably can imagine what a splash of coffee or a slippery slice of pizza will do to the pages of a book. But sticky notes? An eraser? A highlighter? Visitors will surely be intrigued and enlightened by the latest exhibit on the Main Floor of the Du Bois Library. "Disasters, Donuts and Dastardly Deeds: An Exhibit on the Damage and Destruction of Library Materials" uses clever cartoons and amazing real-life examples to demonstrate just what can happen to books when they are handled without care.
Kathleen (Kay) Dion of the Library prepared the exhibit, with artistic assistance from her daughter Bonnie Dion and the help of fellow Library staff member Lorraine James. The exhibit will remain on display through the end of January.
