Corey named executive director of UHS

July 29, 2013

Dr. George Corey, assistant medical director at University Health Services, has been appointed executive director by James Sheehan, vice chancellor for Administration and Finance.

Last month, Florida pediatrician Bruce Kraut was named director of UHS, but Sheehan said the doctor, citing personal reasons, cannot assume the post.

As executive director Corey will oversee all management of UHS and act as medical director. Corey joined UHS in 2010 and is board-certified in family practice. He has more than 27 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings, most recently as a hospitalist at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Sheehan also announced that Linda Hoer has been named director of UHS for the management and direction of support functions. Hoer is the nurse manager for the mental health unit at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Her background includes management experience in behavioral health and provider experience in pediatric and student health services. She has a master in science in nursing and is licensed and certified as a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner.

Hoer will join the UHS staff on Aug. 25.
