Craig Kallendorf, professor of English and classics at Texas A&M University, will deliver the Renaissance Center’s annual endowed Classical Legacy Lecture, “The Protean Virgil: Book History and the Reception of Classics in the Renaissance,” on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.
Kallendorf is president of The Vergilian Society and the International Association for Neo-Latin Studies, and is publications chair of the Renaissance Society of America. His lecture is from his current book project on the reception of Virgil from antiquity to the present.
He will be in residence at the Renaissance Center from Nov. 18-21 and will have open office hours available to meet with students and the public. Call 577-3600 to arrange a meeting time.
The Classical Legacy Lecture takes place in the Reading Room of the center, 650 East Pleasant St. The event is free and open to the public. A reception with light refreshments will follow Kallendorf’s lecture.
