Three hundred singers will appear on the stage of the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. for the annual Choral Spectrum. Participating ensembles include four from the Department of Music and Dance—the Chamber Choir, Chorale, Madrigal Singers and Women’s Choir—as well as the high school Men’s and Women’s Honors Choirs of the Massachusetts American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA).
As in past years, each choir will sing from its own repertoire presenting a sampler of many styles of choral music from around the world. The college choirs will combine to perform college songs and all choirs will sing “Dona Nobis Pacem” from J. S. Bach’s “Mass in B Minor, BWV 232.” Professor E. Wayne Abercrombie, coordinator of the concert, will conduct the Chamber Choir and Madrigal Singers; graduate students Ryan Ellis and Jeff Kempskie will lead the Chorale and Women’s Choir, respectively.
James Hejduk, director of music at Belmont Hill School, is conductor of the ACDA Men’s Honor Choir and Jonathan Hirsh, conductor of the ACDA Women’s Honor Choir, is senior lecturer and director of choral and orchestral activities at Smith College where he conducts the orchestra, glee club, and chamber singers.
Tickets are $10 general public and $5 for students, children under 18 and senior citizens, and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office (545-2511).
