AMHERST, Mass. - Chancellor David K. Scott praised the appointment of Mark Whipple, who served for four years as the head football coach at Brown University, as the 26th head coach of the University of Massachusetts football program. He replaces Mike Hodges, who resigned the position in November.
Scott said: "Mark Whipple''s enthusiasm and skills are right in the tradition of UMass football. With his appointment, we look forward to the continuation of the high level of athletic and academic excellence that the University''s supporters have come to expect."
