Campus Community Invited to Faculty Convocation

The campus community is cordially invited to the Twelfth Annual Faculty Convocation on Friday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. in Bowker Auditorium, Stockbridge Hall.

During the ceremony, Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy will present his keynote address to faculty and staff, new and recently tenured faculty will be recognized, and eight nationally acclaimed faculty members will be presented with the Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Research and Creative Activity.

The eight are:

  • Joseph C. Bardin, electrical and computer engineering
  • Jeffrey D. Blaustein, psychological and brain sciences
  • Nicholas K. Bromell, English
  • Donal Carbaugh, communication
  • Nilanjana Dasgupta, psychological and brain sciences
  • John Klier, chemical engineering
  • Andrea R. Nahmod, mathematics and statistics
  • Jean E. Swinney, nursing

The campus community is welcome to join Chancellor Subbaswamy and the honorees for a luncheon reception in the Student Union Ballroom immediately following the ceremony.

All participating faculty and librarians are asked to wear academic regalia during convocation, which will begin with an academic processional from Cape Cod Lounge to Stockbridge Hall.

Faculty and librarians may order regalia free of charge by visiting the convocation website, The deadline for ordering regalia has been extended to Monday, Sept. 19.   Additional information about the processional will be sent to faculty via email and will be listed on the convocation website.
