AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts has won a silver medal for its admissions video in the Video Recruitment Feature category from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Of the 33 entries judged, two received gold medals, and three, including UMass, received silver medals.
The 16-minute video was created by a campus-wide committee and features students and faculty interactions that draw attention to the University’s academic excellence, according to Juan Caban, admissions office, who coordinated the video’s entry into the CASE competition.
Among the faculty members shown in the video are Madeleine H. Blais, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist; Stephen B. Oates, retired history professor and nationally known author; and Manisha Sinha, Afro-American studies. Caban says the video also reflects the multicultural climate on the Amherst campus and played a role in this year’s increase in the number of applications to the University.
