“Flirting with Danger: Power and Choice in Heterosexual Relationships” will be screened on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in 65 Bartlett Hall.
In the film, Lynn Phillips, a lecturer in the Communication Department, explores the line between consent and coercion in a thought-provoking look at popular culture and the ways real girls and women navigate their heterosexual relationships and hookups. The result is a candid, and nuanced, look at how young women are forced to grapple with deeply ambivalent cultural attitudes about female sexuality.
The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with Phillips.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Women and Community, UMatter@UMass, communication department, Dean of Students Office, Residential Life and the Center for Health Promotion.
