FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – UMass Amherst Homecoming 2013 wraps up with an activity-filled day at Gillette Stadium Saturday, Oct. 26, highlighted by “A Taste of Amherst” and a Ski and Snowboard Expo, and culminating with the Minutemen football team squaring off against Western Michigan at 3 p.m.
At noon, the UMass Amherst Alumni Association Tailgate Tent at MinuteFan Park will open for “A Taste of Amherst.” A special lunch presentation exclusive to the Homecoming Game, five restaurants from Amherst will give alumni the chance to savor the food they remember from their UMass days. For only $10, fans can enjoy various pizzas from Antonio’s Pizza, sandwiches from The Black Sheep Deli, chicken wings from The Hangar, Mediterranean selections from Moti and burgers from White Hut.
Fans visiting MinuteFan Park before the game can also check out a special Homecoming edition UMass Ski and Board Club Expo from noon-3 p.m. Skiers and riders can find out about regional resorts, vendors, manufacturers and the season’s newest gear and apparel before they hit the slopes this winter. Exhibitors currently scheduled to appear include Mount Snow, SnoSearch Ski and Snowboard Tours, Oneoheight Apparel, Worcester’s Concrete Wave and Duxbury’s Bern Unlimited.
On the field, after the first quarter of the game Alumni Association president Andrew MacDougall and executive director J.C. Schnabl will present UMass license plate #1 to UMass Amherst Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy, and plate #1863—in honor of the university’s founding—to UMass system President Robert Caret. The 2013 Homecoming king and queen will be introduced during the game, as well.
