AMHERST, Mass. – The Picketing Code at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is being revised. The changes are designed to ensure civility and prevent disruptive demonstrations inside university buildings, while protecting the right of free speech for all members of the campus community.
Professor Christopher V. Hollot of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE), has been recognized as a fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an honor afforded to only 2 percent of the organization’s 360,000 members worldwide. Hollot’s fellow citation reads: “for contributions to robust control, reset control and Internet congestion control.”
The 12th Annual Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival, “New Faces of Documentary,” opens its spring season on Wednesday, Feb. 9. This year’s focus is on documentary, experimental, non-fiction and biographical films.
Alumnus Dennis McNally, a best-selling author and publicist for the Grateful Dead, will present the annual Five College History Lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. He will discuss "Why Write History for the Public?"
